In October of 2017, Certol’s very own Rubi Powl joined her son Jake in the pursuit to end his battle with Neurofibromatosis (NF); a genetic disorder that affects one in 3,000 people and millions worldwide. NF can cause tumors to grow on nerves throughout the body and can lead to blindness, deafness, learning disabilities, disabling pain, bone abnormalities, disfigurement, cancer, and even death. About half of the cases arise in families with no history of NF. NF is more prevalent than cystic fibrosis, Duchenne muscular dystrophy and Huntington’s disease combined. Currently there is no cure for NF.
In an effort to support Jake and others afflicted with this disorder, Certol has teamed up with Rubi in her quest to help raise money for NF. On February 24th, 2018, Rubi will be participating in an event sponsored by Cupids Charity® and dedicated to a very reachable goal of $5,000. 100% of all funds raised go direct to the Children’s Tumor Foundation® for research, knowledge and advanced care.
